Nice School Pupils Create Chocbars!

Promotional Feature

The local branch of fundraisers for The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) recently called upon the support of local businesses to come up with ideas to help make their 50th anniversary a very special year.

This month Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Alderley Edge invited children from Lindow County Primary School to enter a competition to create a new chocolate bar. All entry fees went to support the NSPCC.

Judy O'Brien said, "As a local shop we always like to collect for the NSPCC and sometimes hold little fund raising events, but this spring we thought it was important to include a local school."

The children aged 5 to 11 had to sketch out their chocolate bar designs, describe the toppings and flavours, give their bar a name and even talk about their target audience.

Entries were then studied by Judy and Ken Harrison our Chocolatier in order to decide on the 3 winners. Judy said, " It was a really tough decision as all the children had worked so hard. They had come up with some wonderful, original ideas and imaginative flavourings. I wish we could have made them all!"

In true Willy Wonka style, 10 of each of the 3 winning bars have actually been made at our Chocolatier and are now on sale at the shop! No Golden Ticket inside but 50p from each bar sold goes to the NSPCC. The winners will be displayed in the shop from Tuesday March 24th!

If you are out and about Easter shopping pop in to see the winning designs. The shop has a wide selection of gorgeous and unusual Easter treats, most of which you won't find in the supermarkets. Chocolate fish, bees, ladybirds, lambs, chicks, hens, carrots, rabbits and of course some super Easter Eggs. Unique Easter baskets and hampers can also be made to order.
