Train Chasers arrive well ahead of schedule to raise over £4000

The end London Euston

A group of amateur cyclists managed to ride from Manchester Piccadilly station to London Euston station on Saturday 21st June, in time to catch the last train of the day back to Manchester.

Neil Burnham from Wilmslow, a serving officer for Greater Manchester Police, was joined by fourteen other police officers who raced against the clock in order to raise money for The Christie Hospital.

Sir Peter Fahy, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, saw the Train Chasers off at 5.26 am and rode the first section of the 195 mile journey with them.

Neil Burnham told wilmslow.co.uk "The day went fantastically well. We were blessed with good weather and despite the hills around Leek giving our legs an early workout we all worked together as a team at got to London Euston at 7.40 pm, an hour and twenty minutes before our deadline."

Originally the team had hoped to raise a total of £4000 through online donations, collection pots and sponsorship forms but they well past that target and are now hoping to break the £6000 mark.

You can still donate to Train Chasers fundraising campaign online via their Justgiving page.
