With the help of Community Payback and 1st Handforth Scout Group, Friends of Handforth Station have planted a new garden to make the station a more attractive place for people to use.

Friends of Handforth Station were able to get the help of those involved in Community Payback, a scheme run by the Probation Service, to build a new raised bed at the station. The bed needed to be raised because a survey identified that there were cables underneath some of the area preventing them from digging there.

The 1st Handforth Scouts then volunteered to plant it as their bed.

Andrew Backhouse, Secretary of Friends of Handforth Station said "It is so good to see so much work been done for others by groups such as the offenders on Community Payback, to make up for their crimes, and then for the fantastic group of scouts and their helpers. We hope you enjoy what they've done!"

Handforth is a wonderful station. It does have two major drawbacks, the lack of ramp access and also only having one train an hour in the evening.
