Wilmslow Town Council has approved a budget of £6000 to enable landscaping work to be carried out at three additional sites in the town.

The areas to be renovated are the bed by the Parish Hall (between The Carrs car park and Cliff Road), where the planting scheme includes nine mature cherry trees, the bed by Wilmslow Station and the bed on Altrincham Road near to Little Lindow.

Having obtained three quotations from local businesses, councillors agreed to a maximum cost of £6000, which would be allocated from their special projects budget.

It is now clear that WTC is recognising there is much to be done to improve the appearance of our Town . In the context of L.A. Expenditures the sums involved are not massive but the impact of the results are very significant. So hats off to WTC . Keep the initiatives coming.
However it has been evident for many years that CEC. Contribution to our environment has been negative . Why should that be? As an example I ask readers to look at the mangled yew hedge that fronts Sainsbury's car park to Parkway . Iam weary of asking CEC to rectify its devastation of two years ago.

The bed by Wilmslow Station certainly needs improving. Also the kerbs inside the station approach by the letter box need cleaning up regularly, - at times cigarette ends are 6 inches deep. While they are about it they might look at who CEC grants taxi licences to pick up from the station and how often they check that approved taxi drivers are there. It is important that the gateway to the town reflects positively on Wilmslow.
