Local councils are inviting young people to become the voice of youth in the SK9 area.
Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley Edge, Chorley and Styal Councils are setting up a panel of young people to support and promote youth activities in the surrounding area.
A group of young people will be elected to form a Youth Forum who will be responsible for reviewing grant applications from youth groups, approved grant applications will then be submitted to Wilmslow Town Council for final sign off. Wilmslow Town Council has allocated £25,000 to be spent on youth projects in Wilmslow.
The first volunteers wanting to join the group have already stepped forward.
Lee Nelson, a former participant in a similar scheme, said "This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for young people actively to direct funding to youth projects in the area and to gain a Duke of Edinburgh award in the process."
Volunteers will receive some training and membership will qualify for a Duke of Edinburgh's award accreditation.
If you are between 13 and 19 and would like to join the group, or have queries, email [email protected].
