Works commence to improve Water Lane pavement

Work has started to correct the problem of standing water left after heavy rain, on the section of footpath between Alderley Road and Kings Close, on Water Lane.

The drainage gullies in the centre of the footway will be cleared and areas of sunken flagging will be re-laid.

Cheshire East Councillor Rod Menlove said "The problem of standing water has been an inconvenience that has been getting worse over time. In discussion with Highways, I have been able to add it to the work programme albeit with a low priority.

"Fortunately for Wilmslow, a delay to a project elsewhere in Cheshire East means a work gang is available at short notice and I am more than happy for them to be utilised on this project."

During the works pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
