New contemporary craft fair to showcase regional artists

From the organisers of the award-winning Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, comes the Little Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, which will take place at Wilmslow High School on Sunday 16th June.

This new spin off fair will feature over 40 specially selected designer makers and artists from the region selling a range of hand-made work, from unique jewellery and fashion accessories to beautiful things for the home.

Angela Mann and Ann-Marie Franey, the organisers, set up Great Northern Events, a not for profit company six years ago to raise the profile of contemporary craft and give the wealth of talented designer-makers based in the region a high profile showcase to sell their work.

The fair will help to raise funds to give complimentary stand space to 15 new graduates from the North at the flagship Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair and so help kick-start their careers as professional designer-makers.

Co organizer Ann-Marie Franey said "Once out in the big world it can be very hard for new graduate designer makers to launch their careers in their chosen craft. The Great Northern Graduate Showcase at the GNCCF showcases the best talent from the region's colleges and gives them invaluable exposure to potential clients, retail buyers, collectors, curators and the press. It's a fantastic springboard for them.

"The Little Northern is a wonderful place to come and buy one off hand made work for you or your home or as special presents, knowing you're supporting new talent in the process and developing the contemporary craft landscape in the region".

The Little Northern Contemporary Craft Fair will take place on Sunday 16th June at Wilmslow High School from 10am-5pm. Entrance £2 on door.
