Wilmslow Town Council has agreed to promote and support a Wilmslow Job Club by offering volunteer expertise and guidance to help local residents who have found themselves out of work and are having difficulty getting back into employment.

They are working in association with Wilmslow Local Area Partnership and have allocated £250 towards the initiative.

Cllr Ruth McNulty, Vice-Chairman of Wilmslow Town Council, said "We can do something to help people out of work to understand their skills and capabilities and help them back to work.

"If we can provide a forum where people come together and bring some experts together then we can provide a useful service."

The first Wilmslow Job Club will take place on Monday, 5th March at 11.30am in Wilmslow Parish Hall.

The Job Club will be an informal forum for the unemployed to meet on a regular basis to discuss their job search. Experts would be on hand to help members identify their skills and therefore be better prepared to write a CV. Interview practice would also be offered together with techniques for identifying potential employers.

From time to time a one day seminar could be held for groups of up to ten to take attendees through the whole job search process. None of the services proposed for the Job Club are currently available through the Job Centre.

Further details about the Job Club email Matthew Jackson, Clerk to Wilmslow Town Council, or call 01625 402907.
