Winning snowmen announced

A collection of polystyrene snowmen took centre stage at the Wilmslow High School Christmas Fair on Saturday, 13th December.

The decorated snowmen, which varied in size from 1ft to 4ft, have been on display in shop windows for the past week or so and were paraded at the fair for visitors to vote their favourite.

First place went to The Dentist, whilst Pizza Express came second and join third place was awarded to Hoopers and ImagineFM. Lindow Primary School won most votes among the primary school entries.

Organised by the Sixth Form Business Events Team this charity event raised over £500 for The MacMillan Butterfly Appeal, which needs to raise £100,000 to build a family support unit at Beechwood Cancer Care.

The students signed up 18 businesses and schools to take part in the parade and booked 20 traders for the festive fair.

The snowmen have now returned to their homes around the town centre where they will remain on display until Christmas.

A Snowman Hunt has been put together with clues to help local families find them, copies of the hunt can be purchased for 50p from the school reception.
