Actress Sue Jenkins officially opened the doors of a new charity shop in Wilmslow on Wednesday, March 9th.
The Coronation Street and Brookside star cut the ribbon at the Hawthorn Lane shop for DebRA, a national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – an incurable genetic condition which causes the skin to blister and shear at the slightest friction, or even spontaneously.
Fundraiser Tony Eckersall said "We are very grateful to Sue for taking time out of her busy schedule to officially open the store and support DebRA. This is the first time we have had a store in Wilmslow, we are looking forward to welcoming local people and we hope they will support the charity.
"DebRA supports a local family from Holmes Chapel whose 6 year old son has one of the most severe forms of EB so hopefully the people of Wilmslow will help us with donations and purchases from the shop."
DebRA was founded in 1978 and provides an expert team of nurses and social care staff to work directly with families affected by EB. The charity also commissions world-leading research into the condition with the aim of finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for EB.
