Former Coronation Street actor Mark Hallett will be running a 'Drama Day' in Wilmslow to teach budding young stars the ropes.

Mark, who played Boris the butcher in Corrie, has been a professional actor for 20 years and has also roles in Waterloo Road, Shameless and No Angels. As well as appearing in adverts for Budweiser, MacDonald's and William Hill.

Actress Alison Burrows will be joining Mark on the day. She is currently playing Kathleen McQueen in Hollyoaks and has numerous other credits to her name, such as Phoenix nights, Emmerdale and Bad Mothers Handbook.

Alison has also performed in shows at the Lowry, Oldham Coliseum, Bolton Octagan and the Library Theatre as well as in adverts for MFI, Pataks and Halls Soothers.

Mark said "About 3 years ago I was getting asked to help out and run sessions for a number of drama clubs and it was a bit of an eye opener really as some of the tutors had very little acting experience. I just found it quite odd."

Mark and Alison run after school drama clubs in various schools around the Wilmslow area. Mark said "We have been getting approached more and more to run classes. I think that with so many drama clubs opening parents are looking for tutors who have worked in the business for a considerable amount of time with many professional television or theatre appearances to their name."

Throughout the drama day, the children will learn about television acting, naturalism and script work, as well as team work and confidence building.

Mark said "It's all about having fun and is a good way to make new friends. No experience is necessary and participation in the activities is completely voluntary."

The Drama Day is open to 7-11 year olds and costs £15 for the full day, which will run from 10.00am to 3.30pm at Dean Row Village Hall on Wednesday 23rd February.
