Last weekend 30 children braved the snow and ice to be a part of St. John's church Nativity From Scratch.
When they arrived the children had no idea which part they would play, what they would be saying and which songs they would be singing. However, after just an afternoon of learning lines and songs, playing games and doing craft activities they were ready - or at least as ready as they would ever be.
On the Sunday morning, the cast returned to the church to present their nativity to their parents and the rest of the church.
Gareth Crispin, Youth, Children and Families Minister at St. John's, said "They excelled and put on a great show for all, from the youth choir down to the 3 year old shepherd, who rather than losing his sheep managed to lose himself!
"They sang and spoke about the arrival of Jesus all those years ago and answered the question What's it all about? by pointing not to presents, trees, cards, singing and family but to the baby, named Jesus because he would rescue his people and help them become friends with God.
"It was an absolute privilege to be a part of an amazing production. I was really struck by the willingness of the children to just turn up and have a go. Kate Howsley directed brilliantly, and patiently, and Anna Norman proved to be invaluable for her ability to teach children great songs, I'm looking forward to next year already."
