St. John's Church are set to run their popular 'Nativity From Scratch' once again this year, providing a fun afternoon of Christmas drama, followed by the performance on Sunday morning.
This is the second time St.John's have done the 'Nativity From Scratch', which was organised last year by Kate Howsley, co-ordinator of the Sunday morning children's groups, and vicar Simon Gales. This year they will also be assisted by Gareth Crispin.
Gareth said "It is run, as the title suggests, from scratch, so that it doesn't matter who you are, or how much you know of the nativity, you can come along and still get involved. Everything is provided for on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, including all the costumes.
"So all the children need to do is turn up ready to have a great time learning the songs we sing, we use some children's Christmas songs that are often used in the local schools, and what their part in the nativity is. There is also a great opportunity to get to know other children whilst playing games and having refreshments.
"Last year we had about 30 children involved and everyone had great time creating a theatrical presentation of Jesus' birthday and in just one afternoon too! The invitation is open again this year for people to come and every child will have a part to play."
Parents are welcome to join in the fun and help with the production on the Saturday afternoon, or drop their children off to enjoy themselves. All children between the ages of 3 and 11 are welcome and can get involved in acting, singing, Christmas crafts and games. The rehearsal will take place between 1.30-5.30 pm on Saturday, 18th December, followed by the performance on Sunday morning, 19th December,
