Wilmslow and District Rotary have announced the winner of this year's Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival 2025.

"Dorothy" who produced by Chelsea Flowers on Chapel Lane was selected as the winning creation of this year's festival which so far has raised over £500 for a range of charities often nominated by those creating the scarecrows (including McMillan Cancer Support and the Alzheimer's Society).

Rotary Secretary, Ian Bradley, said "It was great to see the Scarecrow Festival returning to Wilmslow after a few years away. We had less scarecrows than for previous years although interest grew as the festival progressed and hopefully we will now be able to repeat it on an annual basis so more are ready for it next year and we can give more notice. If anyone from the local community would like to get involved with the next Scarecrow Festival then please contact us at [email protected].

"Unfortunately, some of the scarecrows were vandalised and needed running repairs either from their creators or kindly members of the public who came to their aid. Notably the "Phantom Pothole Surveyor" in one of the Leisure Centre car parks lost his head on at least one occasion.

"This did not, however, detract from the overall event and we look forward to 2026."
