This year, Alderley Edge School for Girls celebrates turning 25 years old. The School was formed in 1999 as the two girls' schools within Alderley Edge, Mount Carmel and St Hilary's, merged to form what is now AESG.

Throughout 2024, the School will be running a programme of anniversary events for alumnae, staff, parents and pupils including an afternoon tea, parties for the pupils, an exhibition, a ball and lecture series.

The 25th anniversary will be an opportunity for the School to strengthen links with its Alumnae Community and is inviting old girls from AESG, Mount Carmel and St Hilary's to sign up to the group so that they can keep in touch. Details of this can be found on the Alumnae section of the website aesg.co.uk.

In total, there have been four Headmistresses at Alderley Edge School for Girls, starting with Mrs Mills (1999 - 2009), Mrs Goff (2009 - 2016), Mrs Jeys (2016 - 2020) and the most recent and current Headmistress, Mrs Smillie 2020 - Present).

During the last 25 years there have been many changes to the School site including building work, refurbishment of the tennis and netball courts, the installation of a climbing wall and the building of the Millennium Sports Hall. In terms of awards and achievements, the School received its Apple Distinguished School status in 2018, the School has celebrated many awards and accolades including the British Council International School Award. The Junior School has been renamed as The Prep School and the School's logo has changed to include its motto, "Aspire To Be More."

Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Smillie, said: "The whole School community is excited to celebrate this momentous occasion and there is an event for all parts of the community to celebrate. It has been wonderful to go through the archives and delve into AESG's past. We are sure there are many women within the community who hold AESG very dearly in their hearts and we would love for them to get in touch and share their stories."

As part of the anniversary celebrations the School is installing an exhibition of photos and memories of the last 25 years, and further back, to the days of Mount Carmel and St Hilary's. If anyone has any photos or memories that they would like to share, please get in touch with the School's marketing department by contacting [email protected].
