Year 11 pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls are celebrating today after achieving another set of excellent results in their GCSE examinations after what has been a difficult year with disrupted learning throughout the country. Despite the obstacles these girls have faced they have once again excelled in their studies with 60% of grades awarded at the very highest grades of 7-9, including 21% being achieved at grade 9. These grades truly reflect our pupils' resilience, commitment and dedication to their studies over the last two years.
Huge congratulations go to all our Year 11 community, with many of our girls achieving particularly impressive results including Jemima Bennett who scored 9 grade 9s 1 grade 8 and a grade 7 across her 11 subjects. Alongside her are Lucy Collis, Sahar Chammout, Amelie Stewart and Isobel Hiscocks who have all achieved straight grade 9s and 8s across the board – a fantastic achievement.
Headmistress Nicola Smillie commented "We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 girls who have continued to work incredibly hard during these unprecedented times. Their results are stunning and testament to the girls' positive work ethic, resilience and determination. These excellent results are a fantastic foundation to start our Sixth Form with and we look forward to welcoming them back in September."
Head of Upper School David Wilson, commented; "I am delighted that the girls have achieved such outstanding results despite the numerous challenges that they have faced this year. These grades are a true reflection of their hard work and talent and the dedication and expertise of their teachers and I am thrilled that everyone's efforts have been rewarded. I very much look forward to seeing the girls back in our Sixth Form in September."
