Reception children welcomed to school for the first time

School children across Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge returned to school earlier this month following the unprecedented period of closures.

The schools were delighted to welcome back all the children and their families, along with the new children joining in reception.

Laura O'Brien, Ashdene Primary School, said "They have settled in so brilliantly. We have really enjoyed getting to know them and we know it's going to be a great year ahead!"

Mrs Walsh, Head Teacher at Alderley Edge Community Primary School said, "I'd like to wish you all our families a happy new school Year! It has been a start to a school year like no other and I am so very proud of all the children and staff for how they have settled back in to school life after the long break.

"It has been wonderful to see classrooms filled with children learning and a powerful reminder of the importance of education on academic, social and personal development. Our new reception starters have transitioned brilliantly from their pre-school settings and surpassed all expectations. This bodes well for a fantastic year ahead."

Head Teacher at The Ryleys School, Mrs Langford said "Our two new Reception classes have made a tremendous start to the new school year. All the children who have transitioned from our Pre Reception classes and those who are new to The Ryleys School have settled very quickly and happily - we are so proud of them!"
