Virtual Gardens Day proves a huge success for local charity

A local charity is delighted that their first ever virtual Gardens Day has proved a great success.

Having postponed their annual Open Gardens Day, which is one of the charity's biggest fundraisers, Wilmslow Wells for Africa posted 18 virtual tours on their website with local gardeners sharing stories about their gardens and highlighting an aspect of their recent progress.

Organisers are delighted that and have exceeded our initial fund raising target of £15,000, which takes the total they have raised to £1.4m since it started in 1984.

Donald Ferguson said "The videos are still available and we are hoping we can raise more to meet or beat the £18,000 we raised last year.

"We had a lot of very positive feedback, both locally but also nationally and internationally as the event reached a bigger audience.

Here is some feedback quotes they received:

"It was a very professional presentation and the music, commentaries and wonderful gardens afforded the watcher an extremely happy few hours, away from COVID statistics"

"We so enjoyed watching the virtual Gardens Day! Really, the whole thing was a delight. I loved all the different introductions, music, fonts, transitions etc. And the many ways of saying the same message"

"Thank you for sharing and enabling us to donate to such a worthwhile charity. The gardens look amazing!

"What wonderful gardens and what a tremendous amount of work has gone into producing all those videos"

Run by volunteers the aim of Wilmslow Wells is to improve life in drought-stricken areas of Africa, by providing wells, pumps, dams and water collection equipment and 99% of everything they raised going directly to the projects.
