Memorial bench installed to commemorate 75th anniversary of VE Day

To mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day on Friday 8th May,Handforth Parish Council has installed a bench adjacent to the War Memorial.

Brian Tolver, Chairman, Handforth Parish Council, said "The bench contains representations of red poppies, which are of course such a well-loved symbol of our remembrance of those who fell in both World Wars and all conflicts since.

"To relate to these, we have planted an area nearby, of poppy seeds which should flower over the coming weeks to emphasis the red poppy theme."
