Volunteers keeping Wilmslow blooming marvellous

The programme of activities to contribute to the entry for Wilmslow In Bloom continued on Sunday, 17th Match, as volunteers planted 1,000 English bluebells in the wild area between the car park at Sainsbury's and Parkway.

Ruth Menlove, Chair of Wilmslow In Bloom, said "We have been working steadily during the past few years to transform this previously unloved area into something more attractive both to wildlife and to residents.. Using volunteer labour we have cleared holly, saplings and brambles. It may be my imagination, but I think there are substantially more daffodils flowering in the area this year.

The miniature daffodils we planted last year have brightened the north side of the path. We hope that the English bluebells will, in the years to come, enhance the area even further."

The volunteer group has also planted hedgerow whips around the fence in the car park and around the substation adjacent to the Old Stables.
