Fire crews rescue 30-year-old horse stuck in a stable

Firefighters were called to rescue a horse this morning which had got stuck in a stable in Handforth and was upside down.

The specialist Animal Rescue Unit from Knutsford and an accompanying fire engine, along with another fire engine from Wilmslow attended the incident on Sagars Road at 8.43am on Wednesday, 30th March.

Whisky Mac was put back on his feet with the use of farm machinery and the assistance of the crews, who used specialist straps to secure and lift him.

A vet attended to sedate the 30-year-old horse while the rescue took place and cared for Whisky Mac throughout his ordeal.
