The official ribbon-cutting was conducted by local author Diana Shaw and was attended by members of the Governing Body, who were represented by Chair of Governors Mrs Gill Winder, and Handforth Parish Council which donated £1000 towards books. They were represented by Councillor Mike Thompson and Councillor Ian Clarke.

Members of the PTA, which donated £1800 towards the computer system, also attended along with school staff, represented by Headteacher Mr Unwin and Mrs Hardisty, Leader of Reading.

There was also a large turnout of parents, pupils and members of the local community which reflects the effort that has gone into setting up the library.

Headteacher Mr Unwin said "The opening of our new School Library is a proud day for the school and reflects the importance we place on developing a love of reading as well as our high expectations for the children. We are very grateful to the Parish Council and PTA for their support."
