Wilmslow ladies first team faced Didsbury Northern in another crucial match, the ladies were dominant from the first whistle, and were unlucky not to score within the first minute. Nonetheless this set a precedent for what was to come.
Jacq Morgan opened the scoring within the first five minutes, Wilmslow retained the possession, and shortly after Becca Healy hit the back of the net in an incredible shot. Didsbury managed to score a goal before half time. The second half commenced and Wilmslow continued to dominate the match, Becca Healy scored another goal, shortly followed by Jenny Nurmi to make it 4-1.
On Saturday Wilmslow ladies 3's took on Alderley Edge 4's in a six point game at Wilmslow Phoenix Sports club. From the first push back Alderley put the Wilmslow defence under pressure but strong marking by Gill Lockwood and Sarah Brickhill with support from Sue Wright and Lauren Killilea meant the roles were reversed and Wilmslow were on the attack.
Some good running by Penny Sparrow saw her in space within the circle upon receipt of the ball where she found an Alderley foot resulting in a short corner. A swift push out to Louise Broome top of the D saw the shot deflected back to her but due to her quick thinking she pushed the ball to an unmarked Penny Sparrow on her left who found the back of the net with ease.
Alderley continued to try and get the equaliser but superb goalkeeping from Man of the Match Jess Appleby kept them at bay. Wilmslow were once again on the attack with some great link ups between Hilary Markwick, Sam van Dellen and Sharon Holford which again resulted in a Wilmslow short corner. A push out from Megan Brickhill found Broome at the top of the D once more, who again slipped to Sparrow who shot to take the score to 2-0 going into the half time break.
Alderley came out strong after the break and managed to score a sneaky goal, but Wilmslow dug deep and saw the game out to a 2-1 victory. Next week sees them hosting Northrop Hall 2's at home in Styal.
Elsewhere, the ladies second team lost 3-2 to top of the table Rhyl, the men's first team drew 5 all with Alderley Edge, whilst the second team lost 4-0 to Alderley Edge, however the men's third team beat Alderley Edge an impressive 12-0. The boys under 15 beat Preston City 4-1 whilst the under 13's lost 3-1 to Preston City.
