A diagnostic and treatment centre for private patients has opened at 52 Alderley Road.
A joint venture between local doctors and HCA International, 52 Alderley Road provides a wide range of diagnostic and day case surgical procedures for both insured and self paying patients.
The £10 million centre is the second private patient medical facility developed by HCA International, part of the world's largest private hospital group, in the North West. The company's first unit was the highly successful joint venture private patient cancer facility, The Christie Clinic, situated on the Christie Hospital campus.
52 Alderley Road is a three storey ultra modern medical centre with two special laminar flow operating theatres, 8 recovery bays, a discharge lounge and 13 consulting rooms. It has a comprehensive diagnostic unit with the latest 3TMRI, and a full range of X-Ray, ultrasound and cardiology technology. The centre, which will be open every day, also has a dedicated women's health unit with digital and ultrasound mammography diagnostics and a full breastcare service.
Other treatments range from gynaecology to orthopaedics, general surgery and urology to ENT. Sports medicine, physiotherapy, neurology and dermatology are also among the areas of medicine available at 52 Alderley Road. While some cancers may be diagnosed at the centre, patients affected will be referred to specialists at The Christie Clinic.
Private GP services, and corporate health screening will also be available.
Consultant General and Colorectal surgeon Mo Saeed is medical director of 52 Alderley Road. He said "52 Alderley Road is an outstanding facility which sets new standards for private patient care in the North West. There are state of the art diagnostics and surgical facilities and some of the most experienced nursing and technical staff too. As doctors we are delighted to join forces with HCA to form this important and unique new centre in the heart of Wilmslow."
52 Alderley Road was the brainchild of Sarah Fisher, CEO of HCA's Ventures Division. Sarah, who was born and brought up in the region, said that patient demand was the driver behind the decision to build the new centre.
Sarah explained "After we opened The Christie Clinic, we recognised the growing demand for a range of medical treatments apart from cancer and we began to look for a property that would allow us to meet the needs of patients and their doctors.
"We wanted to be able to offer patients greater choice, fast and local access to leading specialists and to create a centre providing world class treatment facilities and care. 52 Alderley Road is our second major investment in the North West and demand from specialists wanting to joins us means we already looking forward to increasing the size of the centre. Beyond that, we have long term plans for other healthcare facilities in the North West."
HCA Ventures has also set up its North West regional office in the same complex on Alderley Road.
