Guides clean up around Lindow Common

2014 litter pick 1

As part of the 100th birthday celebrations some Wilmslow Guides chose to help clear up an area of the town on Monday, 19th May.

1st Wilmslow Guides are taking part in the Big Brownie Birthday Challenge, which is open to all Guiding sections offering them the opportunity to gain a special commemorative badge for the Brownie sections 100th birthday year.

Stevie Jepson, Wilmslow District Commissioner, said "They looked at a World clause and voted to take part in a litter pick, which led to Guides, leaders and parents having a great time picking litter around Lindow Common.

"The Guides searched thoroughly, with the most unusual item of rubbish being a small children's tricycle. Then they continued on to Racecourse Road, Chapel Lane and back to their meeting place on Hawthorn Street.

"The Guides' activity gave everyone the opportunity to care for their environment and have fun and everyone enjoyed a treat of chips to end the evening."

More adults helping with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section could give more girls opportunities to take part in similar activities locally. To find out more contact Stevie Jepson on 07772644788 or email [email protected].
