Gingerbread men cooking up plans to invade Wilmslow

Plans are progressing well for the gingerbread treasure hunt, organised by local businesses to encourage residents to discover and visit the many varied businesses in Wilmslow and create a buzz in the town over the Christmas shopping period.

As the Wilmslow Winter Wander Round was inspired by the Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival, organisers are delighted that the winning scarecrow is taking part in the Christmas event. Ben an 8ft gingerbread man, who was made by Hilary Meredith Solicitors, has had a special Christmas makeover for his special appearance in the family gingerbread man treasure hunt which begins on Friday 29th November and ends Saturday 14th December.

Also taking centre stage will be Fred and Ginger, two life size gingerbread men, but look out for Foxy who will be on a sneaky mission to try and catch and eat one of them. All three will be taking part in the Wilmslow Town Council Christmas parade and light switch-on on Thursday 28th November.

Sixty local businesses are taking part in the treasure hunt, and many community organsiations including schools, churches, the library, and Incredible Edible are joining in the family fun. The treasure hunt is free to enter, and a goody bag will be handed out to each family taking part to collect lots of little surprises and treats as they make their way around the trail and find the gingerbread men.

All proceeds from the event are going to East Cheshire Hospice and local businesses have been very generous with donations for a fabulous raffle in aid of the charity and prizes will include luxury hampers, champagne and vouchers to spend in local shops.
