Some travellers have set up camp within the grounds of Total Fitness.
A group of about ten caravans arrived on Saturday, 12th October, whilst the gym was open - having been seen earlier in the day in the car park of the Jim Evison playing field.
More travellers have since arrived so there are now approximately fifteen caravans on the Total Fitness car park.
Cheshire East Council has confirmed that they will have no dealings with this latest unauthorised encampment as the travellers are located on private property.
Updated: Wednesday 16th October, 2.17pm.
The group of travellers left the grounds of Total Fitness on Monday evening, 14th October, and moved to Earl Road near Handforth Dean. They used one of their vehicles to remove the barriers and large logs that Cheshire East Council had placed across the road a couple of weeks ago.
A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said today "A group of Travellers, consisting of nine caravans and two motorhomes are currently based on Earl Road, Handforth. They arrived at around 8.30pm on Monday (October 14).
"Council officers have visited the location and we are now moving forward with the legal process to secure possession of the site.
"We will be serving the Travellers with a notice, tomorrow, to quit by 5pm. If they do not leave the site we will seek a court order to secure repossession."

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
I think this story albeit a different location has been exhausted.....
There is clearly no appetite to prevent this re-occurrence and the comments of PCC Dwyer
on similar historic threads clearly indicate his lack of interest......
So who will take positive action using existing legislation ???
RoW and local business suffer once more.
They moved the barriers and large tree logs that CEC had placed across the road a couple of weeks ago with their vans.
Shocking!! But not surprising.
Ok ...Wilmslow is not on the Silk Road.... (But it is near Macclesfield’s own Silk Road !!!) And it’s not Alexander the great, Genghis Khan, or Russia invading, it’s merely some travelling Itinerants. But let’s consider these travellers human rights.... Lets at our expense allow them to park, unclamped, free of charge on private or council land, Let’s send the social workers in to make sure the children get the very best of our OFSTED accredited schools, Let’s turn a blind eye to the criminal damage to land, trespass, dumping of waste and other issues, and in the interest of The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) ensure that they are treated fairly and humanely.
But someone needs to consider the ECHR Rights of the RoW; we are not excluded here from fair treatment. And the more CEC WTC Police etc continue to demonstrate inability to resolve these unlawful encampments quickly and effectively the more they will continue.
In the meantime maybe the travellers should now be directed to set up camp at the local council offices car parks whilst their rights and needs and those of RoW can be more directly considered.
I write tongue-in –cheek. But for goodness sake let common sense prevail and CEC WTC Local Police. somebody please grasp the nettle and start to use existing legislation in a more efficient and effective manner !
But who will make them work for their keep?
A question/curiosity ... where do they get their water from?
I sid to my Wife and others about this "barrier", that 2 men at the most with a lever of some sort would roll them out of the way in 30 seconds.
Another first for the glory of Cheshire East!!!!
"During my campaign, I set out the following priorities for Cheshire:
Zero tolerance of yobbish behaviour, bringing justice to the small minority who blight our lives, our cities, towns and villages."
Well, that's put the fear of God into the gypsies hasn't it - they won't be back anytime soon....
Ohh. wait a minute.
13/4077M is the planning application reference.
Why can't CEC apply to themselves for a means of keeping the travellers out?
Oops, they don't apply to themselves do they?

I think that Lyme Green would make a splendid travellers' camp. "
Do try to keep up, Pete, the Lyme Green site has been sold to Arighi Bianchi for a knock-down price, evidently.
CEC are now looking to spend £2m on another waste-transfer site... allegedly. You heard it here first.
OK Wilmslow isnt DALE FARM yet..... but villagers in Hardhorn Lancashire ( Not Too far away ) have taken 4 years to get rid of an illegal encampment;
http://dexpr.es/1bVZ8VR..... just when they thought that common sense was to prevail an 11th hour stay in proceedings because of the travellers ECHR Rights was lodged at the court of appeal in London. Ongoing... and costly.. who pays ???
Bottom line; ... Travellers know their rights better than you,me, Police, Councillors CEC WTC etc etc........Which is all the more reason SOMEBODY in authority with knowledge and expertise needs to get the right people around the table and start 'banging heads' to protect the ECHR rights of the RoW..... Mark Goldsmith made the point .. WHO will or WHO Can ... make CEC WTC Police or their legal teams act more efficiently to taxpayers benefit
I don't think ( from previous threads) PCC Dwyer is concerned, I'm not sure (from his minuscule turn out of voters ) what he actually does for his £75k salary ( On top of his pension.. which he is of course perfectly entitled to )........ but he seems to be failing his Oath and principles .." to serve ALL the people of Cheshire,..ensure police cut crime and protect public..give a voice to the public..ensure the safety of the community..." and perhaps failing to direct law enforcement strategies ( You decide )
Travellers have been part of UK community for centuries, but there must be a balance in their respecting residents ECHR Rights as well .. But who will enforce that position ?
Trespass is not a criminal offence per-se it is a civil torte There are offences under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994of trespassing on land and trespassing with vehicles. With this in mind, police attendance may be required. Otherwise the owner of the land may need to deal by way of injunction
Pete Taylor makes a good point re Lyme Green .. But The PCC's office, Or WTC or CEC office car parks may be a better, at least the decision makers would be 'On the job' then
So who can actually pull together an effective team to deal with this recurring issue ........ Were already paying for no service.. I suspect nobody other than concerned residents read these comments anyway .......
As Confucius said " Man who stand on hill for long time with mouth open will wait a long time for roast duck to drop in "
An there's a lot of open mouths and lame ducks kicking around the fringes here !!!
John Rowland... Re your last. Excellent observation
The 2 rather large tree stumps that the council put down to block the section of road along the old airparks carpark, were about as much use as chocolate teapots....1 4x4 vehicle and a rope took care of that! And that section of road is full of caravans!
Who though a couple of tree stumps would be a great idea to block the travellers access to a road....??
Less than zero I think.
So CEC will file for the court order tomorrow morning, get a hearing on Friday, won't be able to serve it because it's the weekend and it will be a week before the caravans have to move off. We then have a weeks worth of rubbish to clear up.
Why don't they just let the gypsies live in CEC and the PCC's offices as these currently seem to be a big waste of space?
