Having made improvements to the appearance of the town centre through planted troughs, tiered planters and hanging baskets at the new gateway signs, Wilmslow Town Council has agreed to take this project further.
Encouraged not just by the improvements but the positive feedback, the Town Council has decided to look as to how they can enhance other high profile but less attractive areas of the town, which are primarily owned by Cheshire East Council, through professional landscaping.
Potential areas identified for landscaping include the roundabout at the junction of Mill Street and Manchester Road, Hayden Park roundabout by the A34 bypass, the raised bed on the A34 at the front of BP petrol station and the bed bordering the Parish Hall car park on Cliff Road.
Other potential sites include the land between the railway station forecourt and Station Road, the narrow beds around the leisure centre, verges to the West of the A34 in Parsonage Green and areas adjacent to Sainburys' car park.
In order to progress this project a working party will be established to design planting schemes and associated costs of maintenance with the aim of making recommendations to the Order & Community Committee of WTC at their October meeting.
It is hoped that work can then commence in the Autumn so the display are ready for next year.
