Countdown to first ever Wilmslow Music Festival

It is now less than two weeks until the biggest music event ever to be held in Wilmslow takes place.

A total of 21 local acts will perform across 4 different stages in the grounds of Wilmslow High School, at the first ever Wilmslow Music Festival.

As well as watching and listening to the local talented performers, festival goers will be able to eat, drink and browse the festival market put together by Denise Valente, Director of the award winning Artisan Market Company.

Wilmslow Music Festival commences at 6.30pm on Friday 12th July with a performance by the award winning Lacey Green Steel Band and it is anticipated that the finale will be at approximately 10.30pm. Gates open at 5.30 pm.

John Mills, the chairman of the organising committee said "It has always been our aim to give as many of the local home grown acts as possible a chance to showcase their talent at the Festival. We have now reached stage capacity and some local acts have had to be placed on a reserve list and will probably, unfortunately be disappointed. We have also received many requests from acts based outside the area to appear, but in all cases have resisted the opportunity to engage these 'further flung' acts, despite the obvious pulling power of some of these named bands and artists.

"The night is for the people of Wilmslow to see what talent the town has produced. It has always been our intention to provide an evening of music for everyone – for people from 6 to 86 years old and we believe we now have a line up where something should appeal to everyone.

"Along with the entertainment we were lucky to secure the services of Denise who has brought her expertise to the event by arranging the comprehensive food, drink and festival market, using Wilmslow based companies wherever possible, to complete the festival experience for the public."

As a result of the generosity of the event's sponsors, festival organisers have been able to significantly reduce the ticket prices from £12 to £5 for an adult and from £5 to £2.50 for a concession.

The final list of 21 acts appearing in alphabetical order comprises: Alderley & Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company, Alessia Doyle, Banned from The Room, Barnby Choir, Catherine Taylor-Dawson, Cheshire A Cappella, Chordiale, Clare Howell, Ewan Sim, Ian Tatlock, Kray Brothers, Lacey Green Primary Academy Senior Steel Band, Liam McClair, Lindow Singers, Sadie Pickering, Sotto Voce, Styal Brass, TEMPO (formerly known as SCAMPS), Wilmslow Community Choir, Wilmslow High School Concert Orchestra and Wilmslow High School Choir.

The market will feature a number of dining opportunities as well as some other interesting and fun stalls.

Whilst some seating will be provided, festival goers are welcome to bring their own collapsible garden chairs or rugs to sit on to enjoy the evening.

If arriving by car, the car parking available for the event will either be in the school (only accessible from the A34 bypass) or in town centre car parks with pedestrian access via the Holly Road entrance.

Tickets are still available priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, students and seniors, via the www.wilmslowmusicfestival.com or from one of the performers listed.

I am so excited to see this event, as a holly road resident.
I just hope our visitors will not litter holly road north and south , broadway and parkway and wilmslow high school head and Denise have arranged to have litter cleared soon after the event.
Good luck to our local musicians
