Man charged with attempted burglary after pensioner confronts him

A 45-year-old man from Stockport has been charged with attempted burglary following an incident at a Handforth restaurant.

A local pensioner confronted a man outside the restaurant on Wilmslow Road at about 3.30pm on Tuesday 14th May which resulted in the 65-year-old man allegedly being assaulted.

A 45-year-old man was subsequently arrested and later charged.

Paul Robinson of Stonemill Terrace, Stockport appeared at Macclesfield Court on Thursday, 16th May, and has been charged with attempted burglary of a commercial property with intent to steal, assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Chester Crown Court on June 3rd.
