Eight fire crews spent several hours tackling a fire involving over thirty cylinders in Styal last night.
The fire service received reports of a cabin on fire in Moss Lane, Styal just after 8.45pm on Saturday, 11th May.
Crews from Poynton and Macclesfield initially attended the incident at Wilkin Farm and found a well-developed fire involving a caravan, several temporary office buildings, farm machinery and over thirty cyclinders.
Attendance was increased to five and then eight fire engines, with crews from Cheadle, Knutsford, Bollington, Altrincham, Macclesfield, Stockton Heath and Congleton attending the scene as well as the Control Unit from Northwich.
Due to the risk of cyclinders exploding a number of nearby properties were evacuated, Moss Lane was closed and a 200 metre cordon established.
Jets were used to fight the fire which affected an area approximately 50 metres by 50 metres.
By 11pm firefighters had been able to cool some of the LPG cylinders, remove others from the immediate vicinity and bring the fire under control.
