Plans for a residential development of 23 dwellings on a site previously occupied by Peacock Farm in Handforth have been rejected.
Pensycor Ltd have been refused planning permission to build 13 houses and 10 apartments, along with car parking, because the proposal was considered an inappropriate form of development within the Green Belt and contrary to the Macclesfield Borough Local Plan.
The Northern Planning Committee also considered that the apartment block would be unduly dominant when viewed from the neighbouring properties and the development would result in the loss of a protected tree, which was considered unacceptable because of the impact upon the general amenity and character of the area.
Two planning applications for a residential development at this site, adjacent to the B5358 Wilmslow Road, have been made in recent years.
In 2011, part of the site obtained planning permission for 13 dwellings (reference 11/0770M). A second application for 24 dwellings across the whole site was then refused in October 2010 (reference 10/1841M).
The planning application can be viewed of the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0085M.
