Firefighters were called to a smell of burning coming from flats behind Costa Coffee on Alderley Road this afternoon.
The crews arrived just after 4pm and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out a fire in a first floor flat. A specialist fan was used to clear the smoke.
The flats were evacuated while the firefighting took place and firefighters did not need to carry out any rescues.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
