Wilmslow based Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society (CHYPS) has received two prestigious awards for their performances of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The awards, from the Association of Community Theatre (ACT), were for the ‘Most Creative Pantomime of 2012’ and for the ‘Outstanding Costumes’ created by Sonia Robinson, the CHYPS Wardrobe Mistress.

John Flay, ACT Chairman, said "At the ACT Award Party CHYPS not only won their awards but made a marvellous contribution to the evening with their characters in Sonia’s wonderfully creative costumes adding colour and presentation."

CHYPS Chairman Ian Hunt said "We were in competition with adult amateur theatre companies from across the North West so as a youth society we are particularly proud of our achievement. Each year we put on a brilliant show so why go to a big theatre and pay a fortune when the best panto in the North West is on your doorstep and will save you pounds."

CHYPS next panto will be Beauty and the Beast at The Woodford Centre from January 8th – 12th 2013. For tickets call 07535 674222 or book online at www.chypspanto.com.

CHYPS cast members attend the recent ACT award ceremony in panto costume. (l-r): Ellie Robinson, Ellen Swarbrick, Sam Oakes, Ledicia Carp, Astrid Harris and Katie Stubbs.
