A newsagent in Lacey Green has raised over £450 for charity by encouraging customers to drop their pennies in a bucket for a very worthwhile cause.

Jo Singh came up with the idea of collecting loose change from his customers for Combat Stress to support the efforts of Wilmslow fundraiser Khumi Burton who has been raising money and awareness of the charity for the past three years.

Khumi Burton, who is extremely grateful for the kind donations, said "The money will go towards the maintenance of the outreach team which covers Cheshire, Manchester and Lancashire where they do home visits for the veterans and their families.

"Each community outreach team consist of - a Regional Welfare Officer, a Welfare Support Team member, a Clinical Psychiatric Nurse, a Therapist and access to a regional psychiatrist/psychologist, all of which will provide welfare support, primary assessment, on-going treatment and group therapy, as well as vital support for the family too. We all take interactions with our friends and families for granted but for the veterans and their families it is very different and difficult."

Khumi is also planning to organise a Sunday Lunch at the Stannyelands Hotel on Sunday 10th February to raise money for Combat Stress and make people aware of this very worthwhile charity.
