Wilmslow Town Council will consider adopting a revised Town Strategy at its meeting on Monday, 19th November, which the public are welcome to attend.

A public consultation on a Draft Wilmslow Vision took place in April and May this year, offering the people of Wilmslow the opportunity to have their say on draft proposals to shape the future development of the town over the next 20 years.

The Draft Wilmslow Vision showed potential proposals for boosting the town centre environment, improving transport connections and priorities for investment in the town's infrastructure. However, the most controversial element of the draft plan was the suggestion that 1500 new homes will be built in Wilmslow, largely on green belt land, by 2030.

In total 1,446 responses were received to the questionnaire, four petitions were also received, from groups including 'Lindow Action Group', 'Keep Prestbury Road Green Belt', 'Save Our Green Belt!' and 'No building in Dean Row', and 491 copies of a standard letter were submitted.

Following the public consultation Wilmslow Town Council (WTC) were charged with putting together the final version of the Wilmslow Vision document - which they say will be 100% focussed on the views of Wilmslow residents.

The Town Council has met with the 'Residents of Wilmslow Group', Michael Jones Leader of Cheshire East Council and officers from CEC as well as issuing an invitation to meet with any other groups who represent residents in Wilmslow.

The revised document, to be discussed on Monday evening, will be published from 5pm on Wednesday 15th November.

It is expected to include a revised number for how many new houses will be built in Wilmslow by 2030, significantly lower than the 1500 originally suggested, and identify specific sites for potential development.

The Town Council's meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Monday, 19th November, at The Oakenclough Centre on Colshaw Drive.

The agenda for this meeting will be available in our events calendar ahead of the meeting.

Document to be published at 5pm tomorrow Thursday 15th November (in other words first thing Friday 16th November). Discussion at Town Council Meeting at 7:30pm on Monday 19th November.

So; we, the people, have only one working day, Friday, to get hold of this "town strategy" (where from?), digest it over the week-end and then comment in the ten minutes allowed for the public to speak (on ALL issues), at the start of the meeting. If all the 1446 residents who made a representation last time turn up to speak, they'll have to be pretty succinct in making their points.

Democracy in action.

Pete, The revised Town Strategy document was published on the WTC website, in it's entirety, several hours before you wrote your comment. Also there will be TWO 10 min public sesssions on Mon, one for other business and one solely for the Town Strategy. or have you not read the published Agenda either?

PS.Democracy in ation is ensuring you have voted in today's PCC Election
No vote = No complaint

Dave, Note to self: read WTC website every day for the rest of my life!
So, has the Wilmslow Vision now become the Town Strategy? Seems to cover pretty much the same ground- I thought that the Town Centre review had been taken out of the Vision exercise.

A whole ten minutes to discuss the future of the town? Amazing.

Yes, I voted in the PCC election even though I believe it to be a ridiculous concept.

Pete, What I expect will be discussed on Mon night is a draft re-write of the Wilmslow Vision, compiled by some/all of the exclusively Cons WTC, after Consultation with Wilmslow (Cons) CEC Cllrs and members of RWG, formed post-Vision. This re-write, although reducing the number of proposednew houses, still contains controversial proposals and I hope Mon will not be the fina; opportunity for Wilm resident feedback before CEC adoption.
This website does keep us informed of local issues, but it is worth viewing WTC website/public Noticeboards for forthcoming Meetings Agenda.
