Police are advising people to be vigilant as distraction thieves continue to operate in the area.
There has been a spate of incidents in recent months where iPhones have been stolen using distraction techniques from local bars, restaurants, coffee shops and other businesses. In all cases the offenders have been described as being of Eastern European appearance.
On Saturday, 20th October, the owner of a beauty salon on Chapel Lane reported two Eastern European men acting suspiciously in his shop at about 3.15pm.
Andraé Leon, of Beautiful Beauty, told wilmslow.co.uk, "We had two very dodgy Eastern European men in our shop on Saturday who were behaving very strangely and asking lots of questions. One was standing by the till attempting to peer over the reception desk while the other was picking lots of things up and asking silly questions."
Andraé described one male as being in his late 30's with a darker complexion and a beard, whilst the other was in his mid 20's with gelled curly hair and gold stub like teeth.
Later in the day, a man went into Costa Coffee on Alderley Road saying he was selling birthday cards. He put a card over an iPhoneand when the person realised what was happening the man ran off in the direction of the leisure centre at around 3.41pm.
