Six bars join fight against alcohol related crime

Wilmslow Police and Cheshire East Council are pleased to announce that the first six licensed premises have been assessed and have reached the required standard to gain their ArcAngel Status as part of the Wilmslow ArcAngel Safer Towns Initiative.

The ArcAngel Initiative is a joint approach between Cheshire Police and a range of other agencies, including local councils, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and NHS trusts to to tackle alcohol related crime, underage drinking and alcohol related incidents in the town.

Having been assessed by both Cheshire Police and Trading Standards the six premises have proved that they are doing everything possible to ensure that they reduce incidents of alcohol related disorder and underage drinking.

Sgt Andy Miller who has been involved in the assessments said: "This is a really good start and we have been impressed with the attitude and commitment of all the pubs and clubs in Wilmslow that are involved. They have demonstrated that they care about the local community and are doing their part to ensure that Wilmslow is a safe place to enjoy a night out."

The six premises are The Bollin Fee, Revolution, The Boardroom, The Merlin, The Slug & Lettuce and The Miller & Carter Steakhouse.

Sgt Miller added "There are still around 10 pubs left that are going through the assessment stage and we are confident that more pubs will be gaining ArcAngel status very soon. Once this is complete Wilmslow will be be officially granted its status and we will have an official event to mark the occasion."
