Decision on proposed gypsy site delayed

The date for the Northern Planning Committee to discuss the application for a gypsy site to be built on green belt land off Moor Lane has been delayed again.

The planning application submitted on behalf of Mr John Allen, seeks permission for a mobile home, one proposed touring caravan and a proposed utility/day room on the 0.46 hectare site.

However, it has been criticised by Wilmslow residents for being unclear and many fear the intention is for a lot more caravans to occupy this site.

Nearly 600 objections to this planning application, reference 12/1144M, have been submitted to Cheshire East Council.

We understood that it was to be discussed at the Northern Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday, 13th June, but it is not on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council confirmed "The Wilmslow application has been postponed due to the complexity of the case and the large public response.

"It is just taking some time to pull everything together. It is hoped that it will go before the next meeting on July 4."

The planning application, reference 12/1144M, can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website.

Residents can still voice their opinions regarding this planning application up until the date that it is due to be discussed by the Northern Planning Committee. Paul Wakefield who is the Planning Officer for this proposal emailed to say 'any letters received before the Committee date will be taken into account'.

If you want to see what it will be like in 5 years+, go and look at Middlewich. The official 'traveller' site on the Sandbach road is half empty, but the houses surrounding it have been bought by 'travellers' and all have 2/3 vans parked up in the gardens. On the way into Middlewich, next to the Shell petrol station, a derelict house has recently been purchased and before any work started rebuilding the house, hardcore was laid and 3 vans parked around the back.

I have previously commented on this application on these pages and also on the Cheshire East planning pages, along with hundreds of others. Normally on the planning website it is possible to view any of the documents relating to a particular application. Despite frequent attempts to do so it is impossible to view the documents for this application. I wonder why this is? Also I have seen it mentioned that the land in question is frequented by Great Crested Newts. Will a full Environmental Survey be carried out? This application is apparently made by the man who was responsible for the Dale Farm site - and must NOT be approved. What else can be done to fight this?
