Gold stolen as Handforth jeweller attacked

A Handforth jeweller was attacked as he carried gold bullion a short distance from his shop in Wilmslow Road to the post office at the Spar.

The robbery occurred at approximately 2.35pm on Monday, 30th April, as the jeweller walked along Wilmslow Road carrying a package under his arm.

He was attacked from behind by a man who pushed him to the floor and stole the package, leaving the victim shaken but unhurt.

The offender then ran up an access road at the side of the Spar and got into a black car, possibly a Volvo, which was driven by an accomplice.

The car was later found abandoned in Budworth Walk with minor fire damage.
