The Wilmslow theatre group Finn Youth Productions, ran by 18 year old Wilmslow Park resident Angus Macalister and his friend Luke Gilfedder, have announced that they have been invited to perform at the prestigious Royal Exchange Theatre.
The group, whose base it at Pownall Hall, will perform their own work, That's Jam at the Manchester theatre in July.
The show is set primarily in 1940's Manchester, with the comic and stirring tale of an American Soldier Rudy and local sweetheart Yvonne (as related through the mind of Joe - boy troublemaker and part time match-maker) forming the backdrop to the overall story of a similarly special 2012 couple also in planning to run away to the coast opposite.
Angus Macalister (pictured), lead actor, said "We are very pleased with the script. I'll take the blame for the 1940's bit, but for the rest I just let Luke just do what he does. He's got a lot of stuff already written, and when I told him what I wanted this show to be, he just dropped some of it in to form the 2012 parts. Between us, it's made a really strong script.
"In the last few months at Pownall, Finn Youth have done a lot of older shows - Graham Greene, Norman Mailer, Strindberg, Bernard Shaw - but now we've got really got going we'll be introducing a lot more original work into the seasons at Wilmslow."
