Wilmslow Town Council remains true blue following last week's election for a new councillor to represent the Wilmslow East Ward.
The Conservative candidate Adrian Bradley won the election on Thursday, 12th April, with 68% of the vote.
He received 651 votes compared with 296 received by the Independent candidate Dave Cash. Turnout at the election was quite high at 30.23% with over 60% being postal votes.
Adrian Bradley has lived in Wilmslow for almost 30 years, having moved here with his occupation as a Finance Manager with Ford Motor Co.
Adrian, who has served on both Macclesfield Borough and Cheshire County Council, told wilmslow.co.uk "Though I am experienced I am anxious to stress that I have no agenda of my own, apart from to respond to the requests of other councillors."
He added "I was pleased with the result but I was the strong favourite with the Conservative vote behind me. Dave Cash did one hell of a job though. There was no acrimony or criticism it was a good clean fight."
Adrian Bradley was welcomed on to Wilmslow Town Council by Chairman Jim Crockett at their meeting on Monday, 15th April.
Cllr Crockett said "Adrian has a lot to offer a local council. I welcome him very much and look forward to his very professional input into the work of this council."
Dave Cash commented "It didn't fall short of my expectation, I was pleasantly surprised.
"I would like to thank all voters who participated in last week's election, in particular the 31.25% who voted for me as the Independent candidate.
"Both candidates were 'informed' that the Wilmslow Vision was the main topic of conversation on the doorstep during the campaign. I hope that all future Town Council Ward elections are contested by 'alternative' candidates."
The vacancy for a town councillor arose following the resignation of Matthew Hodgson in January, due to him being unable to dedicate the time to the role.
