Plans for new crossing on Church Street

Cheshire East Council are proposing to install a new crossing on Church Street.

The zebra crossing will be located about 65 metres north of the junction with Swan Street and close to the Waitrose supermarket.

Councillor Rod Menlove, Cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: "We are currently in the consultation stage about the proposed zebra crossing on Church Street. This period ends on April 20 and we will then consider any comments before making a final decision.

"The crossing has been proposed at this location to ensure a safe point for people to cross, at what is a busy part of the town."

Any representations in relation to the proposal should be sent in writing to Mr P Kenyon, Cheshire East Highways, 6th Floor, Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2LL to be received by Friday 20th April 2012.

This is a great idea. I think there should be another crossing located on Water Lane. From Felicini's to Alderley Road there is no place for pedestrians to cross the road safely. That is 1/4 mile of shops, restaurants and salons with no safe way for their customers to cross the road.
