Explore Handforth's past

Handforth New Shops 1960

Handforth Library is hosting a free local history exhibition all about the village this month.

Displays created by local historians will be on show from Monday 12th March to Saturday 24th March, plus visitors will have access to the library's local studies archive.

The exhibition has been put together by Graham Walker, who is currently Membership Secretary of Wilmslow Historical Society, Rob Sawyer from Friends of Handforth Station and Sue Tunney from Handforth Library.

Sue Tunney said "Come and visit the Library to find out about some of the history of Handforth.

"We are keen to share some of Handforth's past with others in the community and gauge any interest in the formation of a Handforth Local History Group."

In addition to browsing the exhibition, visitors can also view some of the local studies material from the library collection, including tithe maps and old photographs.

Handforth Library also hosts a Tuesday Reading Group, for those passionate about reading, which is looking for new members. They meet at 2pm on the last Tuesday of every month. If you are interested in joining or require further information, please telephone Handforth Library on 01625 378272.
