The dance and fitness phenomenon known as Zumba has caught the attention of the over 50s in Wilmslow and now they have a class of their own.

Age UK Cheshire East have teamed up with the Down to Earth Project to deliver this weekly Zumba class at Chapel Court on Hawthorn Street.

It will run on Tuesdays from 1.00pm – 2.00pm, starting on Tuesday 13th March.

For those who have not yet heard of this newest fitness trend, Zumba is the perfect mix of Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow dance moves that makes keeping fit fun. The class led by a qualified instructor, costs just £3.00 per week.

Victoria Clarke, Age UK Cheshire East’s Healthy Lifestyles Manager said: "Once the music grabs you, it doesn’t even feel like exercise. It’s such good fun. Take this Zumba class each week and you are almost halfway to getting the 150 minutes of weekly activity recommended to maintain a healthier later life.”

Madelyn Bridge, the Charity’s Chief Executive, welcomed the new class by saying:
“We are completely driven by what people over 50 in Cheshire East want in order to stay healthy. This Zumba class is just the first of many new activities we are launching to help us all maintain our health and enjoy ourselves in an affordable way.”
