Due to a resignation a vacancy exists at Wilmslow Town Council for the Wilmslow East Ward of the town.
Matthew Hodgson resigned on 26th January due to being unable to dedicate the time to the role and the desire to give someone else the opportunity to represent the interests of residents.
The vacancy will be filled by election if, within fourteen days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) from today, ten voters in Wilmslow East Ward request an election. If this happens there will be a period of time for candidates to be nominated and if more than one candidate is nominated there will be an election.
If no such request is made, the vacancy will be filled by the Town Council, who will be at liberty to select who they wish, provided the person qualifies to be a councillor.
Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be made in writing and sent to the Returning Officer, Cheshire East Borough Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ not later than 27th February 2012.
