British Transport Police officers are trying to trace a woman who may be a key witness following an indecent assault at Wilmslow rail station.
At around 5.50am on Saturday 17th December, a 16-year-old girl was at the station when she was approached by a man who tried to start a conversation with her.
PC Simon Trow said: "The girl was frightened by the man and walked to platform four to stand near to another passenger at the waiting room.
"She was followed by the man who made lewd comments to her and then touched her inappropriately before she was able to run away."
PC Trow added: "We are now trying to trace the other person on the platform – a woman – who we believe is a key witness."
A 30-year-old man from Manchester was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
If you can help in any way, or are the woman at the platform, please call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote B7/NWA of 21/12/11.
