Wilmslow residents are being invited to brief the Chief Constable and the members of the Police Authority on the things that matter to them and their community.

As part of a series of road shows, organised by Cheshire Police Authority and Cheshire Constabulary, residents are being encouraged to give their views on what should be done to meet the spending cuts that follow the reduced funding from the Government.

Visitors will be able to use an interactive video booth to make choices on where the constabulary should seek to make savings.

Margaret Ollerenshaw, the chairman of the Police Authority said, "The views that people express will be taken into account. They will play a vital role in shaping the future of policing in Cheshire."

Cheshire′s Chief Constable, Dave Whatton said, "Across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington crime levels have fallen to their lowest since 1998. In the last twelve months we have had 5,952 fewer victims of crime and 5,570 fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour than the same period in the year before.

"I am determined that we continue to make Cheshire as safe as possible and to bring offenders to justice even though we have to make £32 million of savings over the four years from 2011 to 2015.

"We have already implemented a lot of measures to make these savings, and we are currently on course but there is a lot more to do. It is very important that we take account of the views of the public when the Police Authority and I prioritise how we spend public money and this is a chance for you to make your voice heard."

The "Brief the Police" road show will take place between 10am and 3pm at Sainsbury′s Car Park on Thursday December 22nd.
