Lowry past inspires future talent

ART EXHIB FOR WEB

A local artist has opened the Bi-Annual Art Exhibition at Pownall Hall School's last week.

Liz Taylor-Webb has been painting professionally for the last thirty years and was mentored by the late L. S .Lowry with whom she studied.

She said "It is a privilege to see such great talent being nurtured at such an early age. I was lucky enough to be mentored by one of the greatest artists of our time, L.S. Lowry.

This region is rich in talent, which is clearly being cultivated here at Pownall Hall. Who knows? We might be seeing a Lowry of the future here today. What better investment in these uncertain times than in our children?"

Every child in the school from Nursery at the age of two through to year six produced their own piece of artwork, of which they were justifiably proud, and they each had their own catalogue of the event with their name in to show visitors and parents.

Heather Henning-Lee, Pownall Hall's Head of Art, said "We have a creative and stimulating Art department. Children's creative talent is unleashed – we feed their imagination which in turn supports the children's love of learning in every aspect of their education."

The exhibition ran for two days and virtually sold out. Liz Taylor-Webb's artwork is available on her website.
