National strikes predicted to take place on Wednesday November 30th could affect a range of public sector services in Wilmslow, as the trade unions and central Government continue to discuss pension reforms.
Services may be widely disrupted if the strikes do go ahead and residents are being urged to consider the effects of strike action upon vulnerable adults and families who rely on services provided by the Council.
Chief Executive of Cheshire East Council Erika Wenzel said: "We would like to appeal to our communities to safeguard their own residents during this difficult day.
"If there is a vulnerable adult in your community, such as an elderly person, we would ask that people are mindful that the services they rely on for support throughout the day may be withdrawn for a full 24 hours.
"The council is making every effort to ensure that those people who most need support continue to receive it.
"If you know someone who is vulnerable, we would urge you to 'check in' on them and make sure that they have all the basic requirements they need to get through the day.
"We are doing all we can to plan for this day of disruption and are aiming to deliver normal services as far as we possibly can. We would ask residents to bear with us in these trying circumstances."
Letters have been sent out to all service users of Adult Services, or their carers, as they could be affected by the proposed strike action.
Parents are being advised to check with schools to see if they may be affected and most children's centres will be closed if the strike goes ahead.
Residents wishing to attend Wilmslow Leisure Centre on November 30th are also being advised to check that it is open before travelling and if the strike action goes ahead, bin collections will be also disrupted on the day. If your bin is not emptied it will be collected on the next round.
Residents will still have access to all Cheshire East's cemeteries, car parks and library buildings which will be open as usual.
Further information can be found, on the day, via the Cheshire East Council website.
